Pousada Casa Grande

Very simple and rustic hotel with only the essentials. The bathroom is tiny and dated. We stayed in this hotel on a Monday night and it was most empty. The first room (#14) offered was dark and had lots of mosquitoes. After wasting hours killing mosquitoes we managed to change to another room (#17) that offered more comfort. This whole ordeal took our afternoon away. Next day in order to have more time to visit town we asked the manager for an extended check out, which was denied. The internet is spotty and you should not count on it. Unless you like to sleep with mosquitoes hoovering on your ears I would not stay here.

We cannot recommend this beautiful place highly enough. We stayed in 3 different rooms because we kept on extending our stay and each room was perfect. They were all very clean, spacious - simple and striking:) The owners (Yayoi and Nilson)) are the nicest people and their team (Hugo and Stephanie) are exceptional. Even when we would see them out they would address us by our names. They were incredibly attentive to our needs and had the most wonderful recommendations. The location is very close to the beach and the “downtown” area yet has a privacy and peacefulness that was greatly appreciated. The expansive garden is beautiful and we spent a lot of time just sitting outside enjoying the beauty and serenity. We travelled with my 9 year old daughter and she felt right at home. Hugo and Stephanie babysat for us a number of times and she became instant friends with them:) We also appreciated the security gate and that we had our own key for access as well as a keypad. We did not choose the breakfast option, however more than once we wished we had when we saw other guests and their array of foods on their tables. Everyone was strict on wearing masks and sanitising - a relief during these times. We also took a private day boat tour with Hugo and Stephanie, and we can all say that out of the 4 other boat trips we have taken over the last 1.5 years we have visited here, theirs was the most exceptional and enjoyable! We travel here often, and will always return to Pousada Casa Grande from now on! Thank you!!! For being so wonderfully you!!
